Cable joints and terminations are a fundamental component of the power distribution system, therefore the integrity of any system is reliant on their quality and reliability.
Our highly qualified and experienced jointers have working experience with most types of cable up to 66,000 volts. The development of new cable types and connection techniques is constantly evolving, and our jointers are constantly re-training to keep pace with new technology. Many of the new developments in cable and termination technology, such as the advent of XLPE cable, heat shrink materials and mechanical connections, means faster jointing times which in a breakdown situation enables us to minimise any down time.
The trend with many switchgear manufacturers, particularly at voltages exceeding 11kV, is to employ the cone plug cable connector system. We have jointers trained by Pfisterer on the Connex system of inner cone plugs up to 66kV and have experience and tooling to handle similar systems such as the ABB SEIK inner core plugs.
We can offer to act as authorised person's for switching on clients networks and for projects, with several of our engineers having current authorisation training and certification.
Cable installation is all part of the package. Whether it be large power cables or small diameter control cable we are able to provide a complete installation service, including cable management systems, cable ladder racking, cable tray and basket systems, civil works and cable pulling.
We offer a comprehensive cabling service, and in addition to joints, terminations and installation we also provide cable location. Identification and spiking.
Screened HV flexible EPR cable connections for cast resin and air cooled transformers are available 'off the shelf' to customers requirements, usually available next day. With the virtual elimination of partial discharge, screened cables together with stress control terminations are often the ideal solution to preventing unwanted breakdowns. Cable sets are supplied complete with test certificates. An installation and site testing service is available should you require.
Certificated testing is available, with HV pressure testing up to 80,000 volts DC.
