Smith Brothers highly commended for Electrical Project of the Year

by Scriba PR

*We’re delighted to reveal that we have been highly commended in this year’s The Electrical Industry Awards.

As part of Electrical Times, the annual prizegiving is the benchmark for outstanding performance throughout the electrical industry – with the awards focusing on the contribution of individuals, projects, organisations and technologies that have excelled in the use, development and installation of electrical products.

The announcement follows our submission of a very detailed entry, exploring the extensive engineering work we provided for Greenfield Road battery storage site – both across our design and build departments.

As one of the country’s largest battery sites, Bedford’s Greenfield Road battery asset was energised in October 2019 and is capable of exporting 44MW of on-demand power to UK Power Networks (UKPN).

The EPC works we provided included the procurement, delivery, installation and commissioning of 22, 40ft long battery containers – as well as the construction of a solid base for each – along with the fitting of 66 inverters (PCS) and 11 33/0.4kV auxiliary transformers. Acting as the independent connection provider (ICP), Smith Brothers delivered a completely turnkey solution.

Commenting on the shortlist announcement, business development manager Danielle Tile said: “Receiving industry recognition for our engineering services is always a huge boost for the entire Smith Brothers team, and we’re thrilled to have been chosen as a finalist by Electrical Review for our work on Greenfields.

“Accolades like these are by no means the main motivation behind our dedication to the business and the projects we work on, but they are certainly a bonus! Thanks to everyone in the team for making moments like this possible!”
