Western Power Distribution (WPD) June 2014 to September 2016

Smith Brothers were employed by Conergy to undertake the Construction of a Western Power Distribution Specification Containerized 33kV substation and 33kV Customer Containerized Main substation with auxiliary power supply for a 4MW Solar Farm.

The contract covered the following scope of works:

• Design, supply and installation of the Western Power Distribution and customer combined Specification Containerized 33kV substation housing,
• Design, supply and installation of the Western Power Distribution and customer combined specification below ground reinforced concrete foundation for the Containerized housing.
• Design, supply and installation of the Western Power Distribution and customer combined Small power and lighting system.
• Design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of the Western Power Distribution Specification Earthing system.
• Design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of the Customer Specification Earthing system.
• Design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of the Customer specification 33kV Switchboard comprising of a WPD switch disconnecter, Solar farm feeder with over current, Earth Fault and G59 protection systems and a transformer feeder fuse switch with over-current fuses.
• Design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of the Customer specification 33kV auxiliary LV supply transformer within built LV Fuses.
• Design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of the Customer specification 33kV Cabling between Western Power Distribution substation and customer main substation and between the customer substation and the auxiliary LV supply transformer.
• Design, supply and installation of the customer Specification GRP transformer housing.
• Design, supply and installation of the customer Specification below ground reinforced concrete foundation for the transformer housing.
• Design of the site-wide Earthing System conformant to Western Power Distribution specifications including Soil Resistivity Studies, Earthing Design Report and Earthing Arrangement drawings and the post construction earthing report and Fall of Potential testing.
• Design of the Grid compliance P28 and G5/4 studies.
• Testing and Commissioning of the protection interfaces with Western Power Distribution in witness.
• Energisation of the Solar Farm site.
