Objectives and purpose
Smith Brothers Contracting completed the detailed civil, electrical, protection and control design to a brand new greenfield substation – on behalf of Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council and MIRA. The substation was required to provide infrastructure and supply to a proposed commercial office development adjacent to the MIRA Technology Park, located off the A5 near Hinckley, Leicestershire. The project was tendered as a competitive connection by Smith Brothers and, as such, had to be designed to an adoptable standard to allow Distribution Network Operator, WPD, to take ownership upon completion.
