Overview
Design work began in February 2019, with civil drawings for construction issued in June of the same year. A team of eight worked on the design-side, with the project completed in its entirety – and handed over to the client – in June 2020.
The main project objectives were twofold, the first being the 132KV contestable connections onto the UK Power Network (UKPN) system. This included the design of the transformer, 33KV switchgear, layout of the battery storage containers and inverter transformers as well as route planning for 33km of cabling.
The scope of works also included the earthing system design, alongside a series of network studies and the G99 compliance process. Civil works, meanwhile, involved an EPC project for Arlington Geotech, which included the structural design of transformers, structures, buildings and the gen set bases.
